One of my favourite modes uses the microphone in your smartphone to act as a music equaliser, so it flickers to the beat of your music. Of course the app itself also allows you to customise the brightness, colour and any special effects of the Color 1000. It even has IFTTT integration, which means the possibilities are endless of what you can do with it!
LIFX have enabled a considerable amount of integration possibilities, so you could link it in with your Nest, or Smart things. The home screen displays your groups and currently connected lightbulbs Once connected, you can setup a location, group and name of the bulb. The app is free and takes you through the setup process – very simple. To do this, you must download and use the LIFX app (for Windows, iOS and Android) to setup the connection. To get the most of the Color 1000, you need to configure it to connect to your WiFi. The bulb works straight out of the box, so you can just use it with your normal switch. Don’t forget to turn the switch off first. The bulb is very simple to install, just screw it into your light fitting (ceiling or lamp that is compatible).
This particular bulb has a screw type fitting, but does come with an E26 and Bayonet fitting. It has a similar shape and size to a traditional filament bulb, but instead has a large section in the middle, with the LEDs at the end. In the box you have the LIFX Color 1000 bulb and a setup book. The LIFX Color 1000 comes in a brightly packaged box, highlighting it’s RGB capabilities and compatibility with other devices.
